Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to meet with former cricketers to discuss the country’s domestic cricket system, as reported by Geo News. Approximately 30-35 international cricketers will join the PCB chairman on Monday to provide their feedback and suggestions for improving the domestic cricket structure. This meeting follows criticism from fans and former cricketers regarding Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 performance.

The Babar Azam-led team had a disappointing campaign, failing to progress beyond the group stage. Their journey began with a Super Over defeat against co-hosts in the USA. This was followed by a loss to arch-rival India in a low-scoring thriller where Pakistan failed to chase down a 120-run target. Although Pakistan managed to win their remaining matches against Canada and Ireland, their late surge wasn’t enough to advance to the Super 8 stage in the Caribbean.

Babar Azam’s captaincy has come under scrutiny following the team’s exit from the T20 World Cup. On Thursday, Naqvi addressed the media, stating that no decision has been made regarding Babar’s captaincy. “There is, however, no decision taken so far related to Babar Azam,” Naqvi said. “I’m only speaking to those former cricketers who are interested in the betterment of Pakistan cricket,” he added.
