Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been dealt a severe blow ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out due to a recent surgical procedure on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. This setback comes as a major disappointment for the franchise, which had invested significantly in acquiring Prasidh’s services at the mega auction.
Injury During Ranji Trophy Match
Prasidh sustained the injury while representing Karnataka in a Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat, just a week after returning from the South Africa tour. The injury forced him to leave the field after bowling 14.5 overs in Ahmedabad, visibly in pain and limping off with the injury.
Following the injury, Prasidh underwent surgery for his left proximal quadriceps tendon on February 23. As part of his recovery process, he will rehabilitate at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring his progress, but he cannot participate in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
This injury adds to the string of setbacks Prasidh has faced in his career. Previously, he endured a nearly year-long absence due to a lumbar stress fracture, which also caused him to miss earlier editions of the IPL. Despite the Royals’ significant investment of Rs 10 crore in acquiring him, Prasidh could only feature in IPL 2022 before succumbing to this latest injury setback.
Rajasthan Royals will be keenly felt by Prasidh’s absence. They had high hopes for the talented fast bowler, whose skill and experience would have been valuable assets for the team. Now, they will have to reassess their bowling options and strategies for the upcoming IPL season.
Prasidh Krishna’s unfortunate injury is a significant setback for Rajasthan Royals and leaves a void in their bowling lineup for IPL 2024.
