Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally registered their first win of the season. They defeated the Punjab Kings in their first home game of the season and second game overall. Their favourite batter and former captain, Virat Kohli, made the win possible with a classy inning.
The former Indian captain smashed a scintillating fifty off just 31 balls while his team chased a competitive total of 177 runs posted by PBKS. However, apart from his inning, what caught everyone’s attention was a gaping hole in the security of the ground as a fan ran onto the field to meet his idol, Virat Kohli.

The fan who had breached security to reach the group also managed to touch Virat Kohli’s feet. Moments later, the security officials were able to take him away. Following this, the fan was detained by the cops for further questioning.
In the end, RCB managed to clinch the match in the final over. Virat Kohli’s brilliant innings of 77 runs from 49 balls brought Bengaluru closer to their total. Later, some brilliance from Mahipal Lomror and Dinesh Karthik took RCB over the line.
Mahipal Lomror added 17 runs from just 8 balls. Karthik smashed 28 from 10 to help RCB chase down the total with 4 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
Earlier in the first inning, Shikhar Dhawan’s blistering 45-run innings got Punjab off to a good start despite losing early wickets in the form of Bairstow. Shashank Singh later provided some finishing touches with his 21-run knock, which allowed PBKS to reach a respectable total.
Virat Kohli was adjudged the player of the match for his superb knock. He is back in form with this inning and will be looking to add more runs to his tally going into the tournament.
