While Sri Lankan captain Kusal Mendis attributed the celebration to general happiness, Bangladesh questioned the underlying motive. Sri Lanka’s assistant coach, Naveed Nawas, clarified that the gesture was misunderstood and urged both teams to focus on playing hard but maintaining respect.

Despite occasional clashes, both teams emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline and mutual respect. While rivalries add intensity to the game, players are expected to compete fiercely on the field while fostering camaraderie off it.
