In a dazzling display of brute force, Ellyse Perry exhibited her ball-hitting prowess for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 clash against UP Warriorz on March 4. The match, held at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, marked RCB’s final game of the season, and Perry left a lasting impression on the enthusiastic crowd.

Perry’s remarkable moment came in the penultimate ball of the 19th over when she faced Deepti Sharma. The Australian powerhouse effortlessly dispatched the ball over the long-on boundary, unleashing a colossal six that measured an impressive 80 meters. However, the sheer force of her shot didn’t just end with clearing the boundary; it shattered a car window stationed near the playing area.

Even Perry herself couldn’t hide her surprise, with hands on her head as the glass window succumbed to the impact of her powerful stroke. The 33-year-old cricketer showcased her exceptional batting skills, reaching her half-century off 33 balls and ultimately contributing a formidable 58 runs from 37 deliveries, inclusive of four fours and an equal number of sixes. By the time Sophie Ecclestone dismissed her in the last over, Perry had already steered RCB into a commanding position.

Perry’s innings played a pivotal role after the early dismissal of Sabbhineni Meghana, adding impetus to RCB’s innings. Partnering with Smriti Mandhana, Perry contributed significantly to a substantial total of 198 for 3 on the scoreboard. The duo crafted a formidable partnership of 95 runs off 64 balls for the second wicket, laying the foundation for RCB’s commanding performance.

Earlier in the tournament against the Mumbai Indians, Perry had earned praise from Mandhana for her resilience despite health challenges. Scoring an unbeaten 44, Perry showcased her commitment even in a losing effort against the defending champions.
