Buttler Irritated by Questions on Defending Title

When asked if the team was ready to defend their previous T20 World Cup title, Buttler displayed visible agitation. “We’re not trying to defend anything,” he retorted. “I have said lots of times, I don’t see us as defending champions. I am just focused on this tournament. I am really excited for it. The team is in a good spot and that is all I am looking to. No. I am not going to tell you the team, am I? I am pretty settled with what we are trying to do as a team. I don’t need to sit here and tell you,” Buttler responded sharply to a persistent journalist, as reported by Inews.

Despite the disappointing exit from the last World Cup, England’s cricket team has shown signs of recovery. They are coming off a series victory against Pakistan, which has boosted team morale. The squad’s bowling strength is further enhanced with the return of Jofra Archer, adding a formidable edge to their lineup. Addressing the challenging conditions at the Kensington Oval pitch in Barbados, Buttler emphasized the importance of staying focused on the current tournament. “We are trying not to play the game before the game has been played. It’s important not to have too many preconceived ideas and assume the pitch will play in a certain way,” he said, referring to the low-scoring match between Namibia and Oman at the same venue, which was characterized by a slow and sluggish pitch.
