After a long wait, Suryakumar Yadav has been deemed clear by the NCA to feature in the ongoing IPL 2024. The player has been out of action since December 2023 and will be looking to get some game action under his belt.
Suryakumar Yadav last played in a competitive match against South Africa. He smashed a scintillating hundred in that match before suffering a grade 2 tear in his ankle during the series. As if that was not enough, the player also underwent sports hernia surgery in January and was sidelined from the action for almost four months.
Suryakumar Yadav to join Mumbai Indians on April 5
However, the wait for the player is now over. The National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, has given him clearance, and he will be available for the MI side from April 5 onwards.
The Mumbai Indians have certainly not had the best start to their IPL 2024 campaign. They have lacked in every department of the game. However, their batting has somehow emerged as the most affected.
Hence, Suryakumar Yadav’s return to the lineup can add some missing flare to their batting. As many people call him, SKY is currently the number one ranked batter in T20Is and has some lavish numbers under his belt in the IPL.
In the 139 games he has played, Yadav has scored 3249 runs at a strike rate of 143.32. His overall record in the shortest format is even better, and he boasts an average of 45.55 and a strike rate of 171.
What sets him apart from the current Mumbai Indians batter is the freedom and range he brings to the team. He is a true 360-degree player, with the ability to manoeuvre the field and hit shots in every direction. Therefore, Mumbai will be keen to have his experience and expertise on board and hope for their fortunes to change this season.
They will clash with Delhi Capitals at home in their next game in IPL 2024.
