Former cricketers also commented on the situation, expressing their concerns about the standard of umpiring in the league. Commentator Murali Kartik, who was on air during the incident, expressed disbelief at the decision, noting the batter’s position outside the off-stump.

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody took to X to suggest the need for specialist third umpires to ensure fair and consistent decisions. “It’s time we considered having specialist third umpires. Too many questionable decisions are being made. Some umpires are better suited on-field, but the third umpire requires experience and a certain skill set,” Moody wrote.
