The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) faces a fresh crisis in its ongoing captaincy saga as reports emerge of fast bowler Shaheen Afridi’s fury over fabricated quotes attributed to him in a media statement.

Shaheen Afridi’s Grievances

Shaheen Afridi, already discontent with the PCB’s handling of the captaincy discussions, is reportedly furious over the inclusion of quotes in a PCB statement that he never made. The 23-year-old feels sidelined by the board’s decision to consider removing him from the T20I captaincy in favour of Babar Azam just ahead of the Men’s T20 World Cup.

In an effort to appease Shaheen Afridi, the PCB has initiated talks with the disgruntled cricketer. Another meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled for Monday and is aimed at resolving the escalating tensions.
