The tussle between Pakistan and India continues outside the cricketing field. Pakistan is all set to host the 2925 ICC Champions Trophy games. However, the Indian cricket team is a huge bump in their road.

The 2013 winners of the tournament have proposed a hybrid model. This meansThis means the tournament is supposed to be played in Pakistan fully, with the the Indian team’s games taking place outside the host nation.

Pakistan, on the other hand, has rejected the model, though. They have stated very clearly that a hybrid model doesn’t seem to fit their interests.

“We have not opted for the hybrid model. However, we have given this leverage that India’s matches can be played in Lahore only. This way, the team will not be required to move around cities within Pakistan and its security can be well maintained in Lahore,” said a source in the PCB as quoted in the IANS report.

The Indian team is given the special privilege of playing all its games at one place, which minimizes its movement across the country. However, the team will not be able to cut slack.

Last year, Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup trophy. However, the teams ended up playing games in Sri Lanka, as India had refused to take part in any action on Pakistani soil. The tension was so great that even the Pakistan vs. India encounter took place in Sri Lanka.

This time, Pakistan is resolute in hosting the tournament entirely in their home territory. Recently, a team of ICC officials visited the hosting nation to assess the preparations for the upcoming tournament and returned, reassuringly, satisfied.

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will commence on February 19 and likely conclude by March 9. Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore are the prominent venues chosen for the tournament.

India’s participation in the tournament remains in the darkness.
