In a surprising move, Rajasthan Royals have bolstered their spin department by signing veteran South African spinner Keshav Maharaj as an injury replacement for Prasidh Krishna for the Indian Premier League 2024. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have opted for an unconventional choice, replacing Mujeeb Ur Rahman with the 16-year-old Afghan offspinner Allah Ghazanfar.

Rajasthan Royals Secure Keshav Maharaj’s Services

With the departure of star Australian spinner Adam Zampa due to personal reasons, Rajasthan Royals sought to fortify their spin resources by bringing in Keshav Maharaj. Maharaj’s wealth of experience and proficiency in spin bowling make him a valuable addition to the Royals’ squad.

Alongside Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, Maharaj is expected to play a pivotal role as a backup spin option for the team in IPL 2024.

In a bold move, Kolkata Knight Riders have enlisted the services of Allah Ghazanfar, a 16-year-old offspinner from Afghanistan, to replace the injured Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Despite his tender age, Ghazanfar has already showcased his potential on the international stage, making his debut for Afghanistan in recent ODIs against Ireland. Ghazanfar will become the youngest player to don the KKR jersey in IPL history if given the opportunity.

Rajasthan Royals secured a commanding 20-run win against Lucknow Super Giants, showcasing their strength in the opening encounter. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious in a closely contested match, edging past Sunrisers Hyderabad by a narrow margin of four runs.
